River Barrow Adventure

Begin your adventure with a Guided White-Water Spills and Thrills Tour. Spend your night star gazing listening to the water of the River Barrow trickly and flow over the weir in Graiguenamanagh. On day two explore the waterway system on a Self-Guided Flat-Water adventure.
The tour begins in the sheltered river harbour. Expect an epic Spills and Thrills adventure in a stunning location. A unique experience completely emersed in nature. Allow yourself relax, chill out and fully embrace your wild side. On your adventure you can look forwards to travelling through the 250-year-old lock system designed by Leonardo Da Vinci used by the Guinness Barges for transporting Ireland’s favourite tipple. Watch the kingfishers and herons dive into the water for their lunch. Hear the tapping of the woodpecker in the lush forest. Smell the fresh air and wild garlic or mint grow along our riverbanks. Taste the blackberries and wild plums planted by the lock keepers. Feel the splash of the water as you ride the weirs and rapids. This is much more than just a canoeing trip, this is a wild epic adventure.

Itinerary:

On day one begin your journey by pitching your camping gear at a designated private town side camping facility. Walk – cycle – taxi approx 3k up river to an access point called Clashganny. Begin your water journey back down river – Go With The Flow. You will complete your day one adventure by your camping spot. Explore the town, grab a bite to eat and maybe venture into some of the old quaint pubs.

You may choose to make a booking with The Hot Box Sauna and enjoy a riverside experience to relax after a day on the water.
On day two pick up where you left off and continue your journey of exploration with the knowledge and skill you gained on day one. At your own leisure paddle down river to St. Mullins. Additional options here include fueling up with a delicious lunch at the award winning Mullichain Café and renting some bikes to bring you back to your campsite in Graiguenamanagh.
